Frogs are chirping

As I rip out the soaker I made for Tanya. Patching was ok but the graft was painfully obvious, so away it went.
So now I'm working like a fiend this weekend to make up for it.
Right wrist is already threatening carpal tunnel, so I'm limiting computer time. I'm sure you understand.

Pride and Prejudice is a wonderful movie to knit to. I must own it.

What we did today

After Easter sales are a great time to pick up egg dyes and try them on yarn. :)
I have been knitting as well, but my 00 hook went hiding today so I'm stalled. I have done things since the poem, but neglected to put them up here. They are in the gallery though.
I hope it's nice and breezy tomorrow to finish drying these beauties. The green and blue on the right is for Krystal. The other is as yet unclaimed.

Today, a poem

With streaming eyes
And wads of kleenex in my nose to stop the drips
I stand guard on my front porch
Perched in my chair
Sipping tea and knitting
Wiping the accumulated goo from my eyelashes
I smile at the chirps and twitters
As I look at the flowers and the yellow dust that coats the world
I feel the sun on my skin and the breeze on my face
Knocked slightly demented by antihistimine
I am determined to enjoy this season
Even if it kills me.

progress

Someone mentioned that I need to lower my resolution for those who have dial up, so from now on I'm going to try to remember to do that for my update pictures. No worries, the gallery will still have the higher quality photos since those pics won't be on the main page.
Thanks for the suggestion!

I think my neighbor is making cake

Because I've been sitting her smelling it all afternoon as I worked to give the blog a new look. You'd think we lived in apartments or something, but that just goes to show you how little lathe and plaster insulate a house.
I did work on Stacie's shorts a bit, and will work on them more this evening. The yarn is knitting up nicely! I'm liking the shadings of green. I promise to post a progress picture before I got to bed.

Spring Sky

This is a custom colorway for Stacie, who requested "something green."
Inspired by the fresh green grass and blue skies outside my back door, it's two very similar shades of green (should look mottled when knitted if they come together well) and blue.

Now it just needs to finish drying so I can knit with it.

Stephanie's order is done

I'm having fun with dye tonight, and my kitchen smells faintly of wet wool. :)
Stephanie's order is done and drying tonight.

Yay yarn!

Awwwww

What is sweeter than newborn longies? Newborn longies on some grass and flowers. :)

Didn't get to do much today

I didn't get to work as much today. I came to the end of my ball of yarn about 20sts before the graft (I hate that) and couldn't wind a new ball while Niall was awake. The swift is MUCH too enticing.
But I only have one leg to go on Stephanie's shorts, so they'll be done tomorrow. I'm holding on her soaker so it will be on to the next person on my list.

Back in the saddle

I finally managed to get back on the job again last night and casted on for Stephanie's pair of shorts. Whew XL! A little math and 116 stitches later, I sat slack-jawed in front of "Lost" and didn't do much more. So today I picked it up as much as I could and finished the waistband. I'd take a picture but it's not much to look at right now. Just an elastic casing with a needle running along the bottom, but the casing is done and it's all shorts from here.
But now it's bedtime. Past it.

My Olympic Run

The first offering of my olympic knitting run was 3 pairs of booties for Deb and Amy's triplets. The booties arrived just in time for Kady, Grant, and Tanner's little tootsies. :)

Next off the needles was a pair of newborn longies for Lynne. I didn't have enough yarn for ruffles, so a new eyelet cuff was born.

Then I moved on to Lacey's purple longies. This yarn was so soft, and the color is great. This picture isn't very true. It's so much prettier in real life! I'm going to try to get another picture of them before I send them, if the sun cooperates.

And finally, my actual entry in the contest

Rowan is very pleased with his Olympic Gold. :)
And yes, I did mince around the living room holding the sweater over my head singing the olympic anthem. Wouldn't you?

I know I have not been posting...

I finished my olympic knitting with 17 minutes to spare! So we had cupcakes and decaf to celebrate and then went to bed. I'd like to thank John for stepping in and dealing with dinner so that I could stay in the living room and work on the hood. My time came right down to it, and I couldn't have done it without that little bit of extra time.
We have a playdate this morning, but I'll be back to post my Olympic knitting run later today.

For the record, I finished 1 newborn longies, 1 medium longies, 6 booties, and 1 childhood sweater sized 3-4years in 16 days. Wooooo!

This was too cute to just go in the gallery

I smile every time I see it. :)

They are so much cuter on an actual baby. :D

frog it

There isn't much worse than getting to the end of your short rows, only to discover a mistake made a while back that makes you frog the whole thing.
So much for trying to separate my short rows. They belong in a bunch and that's it. They're neighbors. They like it that way.

This was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be.

more Christmas Blocks

This time for Niall.
See how differently it knit up? I'm loving the stripe effects on the legs.

Meaghan's longies are now on the needles.

I also have some pictures to share of my new whirly-do (ok it's really called a swift) and ball winder! Hooray! I have to go take some so you can see and share my joy. :)

Christmas Blocks

These have been sent and received, but I've not put up the picture until now. There are from the LTK Christmas Blocks colorway. I'm nearly done making some for Niall out of the same colorway, just one cuff to go.
I'll begin Meaghan's longies from the yarn she sent from Beemer's tonight. :)

Go Team!

These have been done for a while. I just haven't gotten to the computer to post the picture. :)
I'm now working on Lacey's Christmas Blocks longies, and after that it's a pair out of the same yarn for Niall.
The LTK yarn is a little rough, but it should soften with washing and it doesn't pill much at all.

Here are the finish rugby longies. I think Niall needs a pair of these too.
